Next Level
The summer months are often a bit quiet. Not just in terms of work, but also in terms of the people around you. Family and friends are on vacation. Streets are deserted. Except that we are dealing with an invasion of German tourists here...

Sultry Spark
Sultry Sparkle (a Microflash story)
“The sea breeze makes it lovely,” says Judy, her feet in the surf. Beads of sweat glisten on her upper lip.
“You wanted to come out here in the middle of the night...

Richer than I thought
Every now and then, you *must*—indeed: *must*!—clean up your own workshop. Absolutely not one of my favorite activities. Even a bit pointless, I think. I always lose everything anyway, even when I store it away neatly.

In the shades...
In late April, I was in France with my family. We had rented a house in a small village in Alsace. One of the locations we wanted to visit was Strasbourg. And there was a reason for that...

Terror among the tulips
Okay, this isn't really a blog post. Just a quick update to let you know I'm on a short vacation. Right before we left, we took some photos among the tulips. (Well, Holland, right? Wooden shoes, cheese, and tulips.)

Dead People Association
Some time ago I heard about problems people experience when their identity is erased by the government because the government has somehow learned that the person is no longer alive. In everyday life this causes enormous problems. Problems that are not solved quickly...

Previse
The second issue of my fanzine VIBES is now available for download (provided you're a paying subscriber...). In this issue, I'm briefly previewing the stories I'll be publishing in the near future, starting with a reminiscence about my first car. A bit of a strange twist, isn't it? A little look back to look ahead.

Denaria
To get in the (scary) mood, a super-short horror story. Inspired by a photo by Igor Vetushko (via Depositphoto). A girl with a balloon that reminded me very much of… indeed, Pennywise, the clown from Stephen King's story "It."

The KICK-OFF
A new year, a new opportunity to implement new ideas. In this case, it's high time to finally bring an old idea to life. I started working on it a year or two ago. But as of this year, it's finally here: 𝐕𝐈𝐁𝐄𝐒. 𝑴𝒚 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍, 𝒔𝒊𝒙-𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌𝒍𝒚 𝑭𝑨𝑵𝒛𝒊𝒏𝒆.

Merry Space(X)Mas!
It's not easy to get your life back in order. To create some semblance of order in the chaos. And just when you think you've succeeded...

Diggin' in water
Sometimes I think, “I bet everything has been discovered and described by now.” But then another bizarre creature suddenly pops up. Okay, we were actively hunting (in museums, that is) for this “thought-lost” species from Ethiopia, but still. When I first looked at the fish, I thought I was looking at a goby...

(Dis)Closure
Memories are beautiful but also very personal. What is important to you, passes someone else by completely. And sometimes you try to close things off, push memories away, while for others it is an eye-opener. Let me explain...

Momentum
Remember where you were and what you were doing when...? You´ve heard this question before. Mostly referring to internationally renowned events. Things that shocked the world. Things that made the world stop turning. Well. For a while, at least...

Blinded by Love

555
Repeating numbers. Some see it as a sign. A sign from angels. Yes. Sometimes, in certain phases of your life, you are open to such signs. But do they really mean what is claimed on the internet?

BiogrAIphy
I let this Easter weekend pass me by. Easter. A holiday on which Christians celebrate that Jesus rose from the dead. I see no signs from the afterlife. But if it were up to AI, anything is possible...

The Butterfly Trail
This early in Spring the sun is not that strong. Temperatures are okay, but butterflies need a little more warmth. That's why they sit down on the pavement. The tiles absorb the warmth and the butterflies enjoy both the warmth of the tiles and, by spreading their wings, the warmth of the early sun.

Fashionably late
Yeah, I know. I promised to write a Flash Fiction story every week. And I still intend to do so. But emotions cannot be forced. Not even by time. It took me longer than I thought to get things, or rather myself, moving again. Oh well, what is time anyway? A man-made method to record what has been and what is yet to come.
