Still running

I´m older now, but still running; that's what Bob Seger wrote. We've all had our share, didn't we? Nevertheless I feel this year the winds of time are changing. Got some great plans and I'm ready to get started. Talking about running...

Now, about "Against the wind", cuz that's where the first phrase comes from. A song by Bob Seger, written in 1980. I've played it so many times, I think I know the lyrics by heart. My daughter will be most pleased with the beautiful artwork of this song (and also the cover of the album with the same title) which includes some wonderful horses. In an interview with "Rolling Stone" Seger explained: "I always say it's human nature that people are gonna love you sometimes and they're gonna use you sometimes. Knowing the difference between when people are using you and when people truly care about you, that's what "Against the Wind" is all about. The people in that song have weathered the storm, and it's made them much better that they've been able to do it and maintain whatever relationship. To get through is a real victory."

We'll be married thirty years at the end of this year. And boy have we weathered storms! Yet, all we talk about are the good times. Always looking ahead. And we've had our fair share of good times too. And we're still running...

So, I've finished my writing and translations for today. Made some interesting challenges for myself. It's nice to note I at least made it for the first two days. Ha! That means I can allow myself to relax and watch some TV. We've started the Harlan Coben series "Stay close". Always nice to watch, even though I already read the book a few years ago. In Dutch. The title, apparently literally translated, "Blijf dichtbij".

Nu, over "Against the wind" ("Tegen de wind"), want daar komt de eerste zin vandaan. Een nummer van Bob Seger, geschreven in 1980. Ik heb het zo vaak gedraaid, dat ik de tekst uit mijn hoofd ken. Mijn dochter zal heel blij zijn met het prachtige artwork van dit nummer (en ook de hoes van het album met dezelfde titel) met een aantal prachtige paarden. In een interview met "Rolling Stone" legde Seger uit: "Ik zeg altijd dat het de menselijke natuur is dat mensen soms van je zullen houden en dat ze je soms zullen gebruiken. Het verschil kennen tussen wanneer mensen je gebruiken en wanneer mensen echt om je geven, dat is waar "Against the Wind" over gaat.
