New year, new times, new stories. Not every story is equally sweet, fun, exciting or beautiful. What I do know is that our life stories, our lifelines, never run synchronously. Yes. Maybe for a while. But every life is determined by circumstances that you cannot control yourself, although many people think you can...
A few years ago I made a number of paintings with the title "Timeline". With this I wanted to emphasize how the lifelines of different people influence each other. Sometimes consciously, often unconsciously. Every line, or life event, has a beginning and an end. Sometimes the lines run through each other. Sometimes they end before the next line begins, or the line continues while other lines have already stopped. And sometimes they are not even visible yet, while the story already is developing. That is life.
I have decided to pick up the Timeline series again. Now under the series title "Moments in Time". A new small work of art every week. Each (mini) painting accompanied by a Flash Fiction story. The very first one is subtitled "Flashback". Admittedly, that is a story that I had written before. To me it seemed to be an appropriate story for this last day of the year. A nice moment to look back as well as forward.
So, on Twisted Tuesday I will present you a little story in words and pictures every week (at least) for a year. A Moment in Time to remember what happened, who you have to miss, and also what you can look forward to. Because life goes on...

Synopsis
Flashbacks. Movies and books use them to reveal things that happened in the past. But he still knew every single detail of his past. He didn’t need any flashbacks. Or, did he?
